Abstract

Various bone defects of the maxillofacil region are developed from neoplasm, trauma, infection, congenital deformities. These defects were restorated with bone graft, therefore esthetic & functional restoration was achieved by prosthesis or endosseous implants. Most commonly used donor sites are iliac bone, rib bone, cranial bone, tibia, mandible, and maxilla. If required bone is small, it will harvest from intraoral bone. For example, mandibular symphysis, maxillary tuberosity are used. Autogenous iliac bone is major donor site for jaw reconstruction. Advantage of the iliac bone is less resorptive compared with donor site such as rip bone. The outer portion of the graft is entirely cortical, the inner portion is cancellous bone. It is easily manipulated and accessed.
We performed the ridge augmentation with autogenous iliac bone graft in a patient diagnosed ridge atropy. We report this clinical result and review of literature.
